Michelle Sturm

Michelle Sturm began her career in November 1985 when she graduated from the Horst Education Center. (Presently, the Aveda Institute) in Minneapolis, Minnesota and completed the Advanced Training program.

Michelle began her apprenticeship program at The Red Carpet Salons owned by Aaron Nichelson. There were two locations in Minneapolis and St. Paul and this is where her career took shape. This is where she had advance training in makeup and hairstyling and started an introduction to runways shows and television/fashion work. Michelle apprenticed for 2 years and moved on... This is just a bit of what she has done.

Just to name a few:

In 1987 Regis hairstylist hired her to be a part of their management team that opened up the Signal Hills Mall Regis Salon.(West St. Paul) She worked as a stylist and make-up artist there and through her mentor (Barbara Corwin) who worked at the time for Regis corporate, got her involved with Good Company. She worked with Gary Lumpkin doing ambush makeovers and learned how to work and perform under high pressure situations. She was also involved directly in the TV shows fashion/runway shows and was one of the artists who did the hair and make-up behind the scenes. Through all this exposure, Michelle went out on her own and worked side-by-side with her sister in this small space of their grandmother's home. (Michelle is her 3rd generation hairdresser). This was a great space to use for business while Michelle pursued her freelance career and got involved with many projects.

During her career she worked at John Casablanca's Career/modeling center as an educator and consulted with potential local model talents(Plus and petite models) on jobs and working with them on photo shoots, doing hair and make-up. This opened a lot of doors and gave Michelle great recognition in the industry. After a while Michelle took an interest in the plus-size division of the education, and started educating and working specifically with the plus-size local model talent here in the midwest. She traveled to New York and Miami and worked for Pluss Models Inc. This launched her skills at a different level; Michelle worked as a plus-size model and also did hair and make-up for all the models who traveled to Miami for work.

In August of 1997 Michelle opened The Salon for you! Spa and Salon.This was a grand adventure for her. This is where Michelle works and educates clients and her staff. She also has a very strong apprentice program that she believes all should start out in. She truly is a unique artist and provides exceptional service. Her knowledge of the industry and passion for her skill cannot be beat. Come on in and see her. You will have a renewed outlook on what you should be doing for yourself. She's honest so come prepared. Those who sit in her chair, leave with their cup runneth over.
